Where to Find Breckenridge Snow Sculptures
So, where are the Breckenridge snow sculptures? The sculptures can be found downtown around the Riverwalk Center on West Adams Avenue. Every January, the town hosts one of the biggest snow sculpture events, which is referred to as the International Snow Sculpture Championship. This year’s championship is scheduled to take place between January 22nd and 31st. The event brings together teams from all over the world who pull together their creative minds and talented hands to create masterpieces made of only snow and ice.
Sculptors who take part in the competition are tasked with carving a 20-ton block of snow into a massive work of art. The sculptors are not allowed to use anything but their hands and hand-powered tools to create snowy masterpieces. Many sculptors spend many hours, day and night, throughout the five-day creation window to bring their ideas to life. In the end, only one of the snow sculptures Breckenridge boasts can be selected as the winner, and the creating team walks away with respected bragging rights and other prizes.
