One of the many reasons we love Northern Standard is because all of their vape oil cartridges are 100% refillable, and for those of you who need a thorough step by step process to refill your Northern Standard cartridge and to learn how to care for them—keep reading. 

Refilling

1. Take off the rubber cap that is on the refill syringe and remove it from the plastic seat, but make sure to leave the plastic seat on your syringe.

2. Take the refill tip that comes with the refill kit, and screw it into the plastic seat—replacing the rubber cap.

3. Unscrew the mouth piece, and remove it from your cartridge.

4. Place refill tip between the glass and metal post and slowly push the syringe plunger, rotating the cartridge so the oil will be evenly distributed.  

5. Next, fill your cartridge with oil until it reaches the edge of the center post – roughly 1/2 to 3/4 of the chamber.

DO NOT refill cartridges by putting the refill tip in the center post of the cartridge.

DO NOT overflow the cartridge.  Make sure you leave enough space at the top of the chamber to allow the tip to be screwed down securely.

5. Once you’ve refilled your cartridge, put the mouth piece back on by screwing it onto the center post, making sure the seal is nestled between the mouth piece and glass.

6. If you need to remove product from the tip, replace the cap, or refill the tip, and gently pull back on the syringe plunger. 

7. If you have a leaking cartridge or you notice extra oil is accumulating between the battery and cartridge, finish using all the product that is still in there, then throw it away. It is best to use a fresh cartridge instead of refilling a faulty one. 

Guidelines for Your Northern Standard Cartridge

Another thing we love about Northern Standard is all of their cartridges are made of Pyrex glass. That means no metal or plastics. Sometimes oils can get into the bottom, which comes into contact with the battery. But don’t worry! This has zero effect on the battery or on the performance of the cartridge. But, if you do wish to clean it, use a Q-tip and a small amount of rubbing alcohol to get rid of any accumulated oil. 

The old saying “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure” definitely applies to taking care of your cartridges. Make sure to keep your cartridges in cool temperatures—exposing them to hot temperatures will make it runny, which leads to leaks. Also, avoid exposing them to extreme drops in air pressure. Since the cartridges are filled at an elevation of 10,578 feet, going from a high altitude to a low altitude, then back up to a high altitude may cause leaks as well.  

The Battery

Northern Standard has some of the highest quality batteries on the market, and one charge will last you a good while. To turn the batteries on or off, click it 5 times, and to change the voltage to low, medium, or high—click it 3 times.
